K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Self!)

I LOVE the holidays and am pretty good about juggling all the preparations, errands, planning, etc., after all I have been doing this for a number of years now (ahhhhem!).  My tricks?  Here are a few tips to K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple self):

1. Breathe (and remember nothing is required of you)

2. Shop at a LIMITED number of stores or online so returns/exchanges are not spread between a dozen places

3. Make a TO DO or SHOPPING list (Be sure to say 'No' or forego any baking, parties, worn-out traditions, decorating, cards, etc. that you can stand to give up- this year does not have to be just like last year and if it is not YOUR priority it probably is not anyone else's either)

4. Get things OFF your list A.S.A.P.

5. Breathe (and be grateful for your blessings)

6. Set boundaries/rules with your kids before shopping or running errands together (prepare them for the length of time we will be here, spending limits or who pays for what, which specific items or ideas we are here for, etc.)

7. Block time each day to relax and take care of your mental/emotional state (min. 10 minutes)

8. Don't compare yourself or where you are at to others- everyone has their own system that works for them, just do what you need to do (see #4)

9. Keep a sense of humor and a friend's phone number handy to share how things are going (great way to let off steam and keep the JOY flowing)

10. Breathe (and congratulate yourself for NOT letting the craziness take the 'Happy' out of your Holidays!)
